Suggestions for the Winter Break

« Have your child read the books in their book bag and red duotang to practise vocabulary. Use the audio dictionary on the Roméo Dallaire website to assist with pronunciation.
« Have your child make flashcards to create a matching game with vocabulary words or sight words.
« Have your child keep a daily journal. Ask them to write a few sentences about the date, the weather, temperature, what they did that day, how they are feeling or what they are wearing.
« Practise saying & representing numbers: http://www.languageguide.org/french/numbers/
« Practice saying the date out loud.
« Watch a French program or choose a favourite movie and watch it in French! Don’t forget to use the captioning on your T.V as this actually encourages children to read the words on the screen rather than watch the movie/show passively.
« Visit your local Public Library. Your local library carries a good selection of French books for children and they can be on loan for three weeks at a time!
« Visit the French “Tumblebooks: www.tumblebooklibrary.com
(Username: romeodallaire   Password: reads)
« Change the settings and play a favourite video game in French!

« Play outside and have some winter fun!
