Here is what we will be focusing on during the month of May.
French
We are learning animal vocabulary and summer vocabulary.
We are continuing to identify the important elements in stories.
We are reviewing sounds and practising rhymes.
We are learning to add details to our sentences.
We are learning to write procedures.
We are learning to write simple stories with a problem and a solution.
We are practising presenting our work to our classmates, and listening to others present.
Math
We are learning about equality.
We are learning to use a balance to represent equality.
We are learning to describe the likelihood of events using appropriate vocabulary.
We are continuing to solve problems involving addition and subtraction.
We are reviewing counting to 100.
Science
We are learning to describe and compare living things (with a focus on animals).
We are learning about the physical characteristics of living things.
We are learning about the needs of living things.
We are learning to label the important parts of living things.
** Final project: Towards the end of the month, we will be starting our final project on living things. Students will choose a living thing, and design a diorama that represents a healthy environment for that living thing, and meets the need of the living thing. Please send an empty shoe box, or kleenex box with your child's name by May 19th. Merci!
Health
We are learning about healthy habits.
We are learning about body parts and how to keep various parts healthy.
Art
We are learning about tone (darker shades, lighter shades... Ex: bleu clair vs. bleu foncé, vert clair vs. vert foncé)
We are learning to solve problems we encounter while creating our art work
Drama
We are learning to take on the voice and actions of different characters
